HISTORY OF THE SALUTE TO VETERAN CAR & MOTORCYCLE SHOW
2019 will be the 8th Annual Salute to Veterans Car & Motorcycle Show
In the beginning the event was a fundraiser solely for the Salvation Army Veterans & Family Center and now we share the funds raised with other veteran charities.
Our Car Show is an all-volunteer produced event.
We have grown from 99 cars and 1 (!) motorcycle to over 400 vehicles including a great variety of show cars, motorcycles, military vehicles, helicopters, and city/county vehicles.
The Disabled Veterans Motorcycle Club hosts a Motorcycle Run ending at the event.
Funds are raised through trophy sponsorship, vehicle registrations, raffle, vendor fees, and donations.
Over $189,000 has been raised in our 7 years for local veterans and their families in need - (for instance, at the SA Veterans Center we built an ADA ramp, children's play and BBQ area, raised-bed gardens, ADA bathrooms and funded kids school supplies and nutrition programs and more...)

Fisher House Foundation
The Fisher House is a nonprofit place for families of soldiers that are in the Hospital. It is like staying in a 5 star hotel, the food is supplied and it has laundry facilities. It is a tax deductible donation when you help them to help Veterans families. My Wife has stayed in one several different times when I was in for an extended stay. It is a wonderful benefit that truly helps the Veteran know their family is safe and comfortable when staying with them. Thanks for your Help. Bear

Thank you for allowing us to participate in the Veteran's Car Show at the Washington County Fairgrounds! It's always been a great show and it just keeps getting better. The Fairgrounds is a great location, the cars are incredible and there is something for just about everyone. The Military vehicles are always a hit, and it's a great time to say "thank you for your service" to the Veterans. Thank you for all you do, Lynn! Looking forward to August 10th, 2019!

As a Veteran, this was my first time to enter this show with our car, a 2014 Mustang. My wife and I are members of the Mustang Wranglers and I can safely say that our members enjoyed participating and will no doubt be there next year as well to support this event. As a Vietnam Veteran I personally wish to make a comment about the respect shown to us Veterans for our service and it was a day we could share some stories and celebrate our services without the thought of being looked down upon. I have never had so many come up to us and say thank you. It was very heartwarming. The service where you had the programs and speakers was first class, and well received as well. Bill & Cindy Mixon: Mustang Wranglers
We have been involved with the Veterans Car Show since the first show in 2012. It has been (and still is) a great show. The main power behind the show is Lynn, whom I refer to as the human dynamo, she’s got so much energy. She may be small in stature, but then so was the Tasmanian devil! The (and truck, motorcycle, military vehicle, helicopter, etc.) show is a great event to attend, especially if you want to see a big variety of different types of vehicles. Every year, the show has gotten larger, and has brought in an even bigger variety of equipment. What started out as a small show of around 100 vehicles has now grown to be upwards of between 400 and 500 vehicles. But of course, the main reason for the show is to honor Veterans, and to help support the facilities and agencies that work for and with Veterans as well. I personally have seen the results of this, and it’s been most gratifying. Being a Veterans myself, it gives me great pleasure to see the good that the show does for Veterans. It is also a very good time to meet and interact with other fellow Veterans as well. The show is probably one of the best is the area, if not the region. 2019 will be it’s eighth year, and as they say ‘on with the show’!
